Run-In Procedures

These vehicles have been tuned by a professional technician using state-of-the-art technology. Failure to follow these requirements will void your warranty.

Important Notice

GUA B.V. Agreement for Shelby and other Supercharged Vehicles. These vehicles have been tuned by a professional technician using state of the art technology. A database has been created of your vehicle's engine capability, horsepower, performance ability and features. Failure to follow and comply with the below requirements and guidelines can be easily detected and will void the customer's warranty when detected.

Requirements

Mandatory guidelines.

Fuel Requirements

  • A fuel octane of 98 or higher is recommended for the life of your supercharged vehicle.
  • Do NOT use less than 98 octane gasoline. Use of below 98 octane gasoline will cause engine damage and WILL VOID the GUA driveline warranty.
  • Fuel older than 180 days must be completely drained from the fuel tank and fuel lines, then replaced with fresh 98+ octane fuel before starting or driving the vehicle.
  • Do NOT add octane booster to old fuel. Octane booster will not bring old fuel to the required standard.

Engine Break-In — First 1,600 km

  • For the first 1,600 km — which includes ALL test drives — do NOT accelerate at full throttle.
  • Do NOT exceed 4,000 engine RPM during the break-in period.
  • Do NOT tow a trailer or create engine bind from pulling or towing.
  • Do NOT operate or use cruise control during the break-in period.
  • Failure to follow these guidelines can cause premature failure to powertrain components and will void the warranty.

Oil & Lubrication

  • Use ONLY Ford Motorcraft 5W50 synthetic oil.
  • Recommended first oil change at 1,600 km — then every 7,500 km thereafter.
  • Supercharger oil must be changed every 50,000 km or less, using Ford Motorcraft #XL-4 Supercharger Synthetic Oil.

Spark Plugs

  • Exchange spark plugs every 20,000 km or less. It is imperative to follow the recommended ignition maintenance to achieve peak performance and avoid possible engine damage.
  • Reset gap to .028" (0.71 mm).
  • Use ONLY Ford Motorcraft spark plugs recommended by Ford for your vehicle's year, model, and engine size. Reset to .028" gap.

Air Filter

  • The air filter should be cleaned using a K&N Cleaning Kit or equivalent every 15,000 km or less, depending on the environment the vehicle is used in.
  • Dirt and dust are harsh on an engine. A clean, functioning air filter is critical to the engine's performance and lifespan.

Modifications & Warranty

  • Modifying the hardware or software from Shelby / Tuscany / Fox / GUA B.V. original specifications will void the driveline warranty.
  • A completed and signed Shelby Supercharger Retail Purchaser Agreement must be returned to GUA B.V. for the driveline warranty to be in effect and valid.
  • Until GUA B.V. receives the signed Supercharger Agreement from the owner, the driveline warranty will not be activated.
  • If the owner has a service issue and lives outside the market area, contact GUA B.V. at [email protected] and we will direct them to a local servicing dealer.

The signed Run-In Procedure form must be returned to GUA B.V. before your driveline warranty is activated. Print, initial each item, sign, and send it with your warranty registration.

Important conditions

  • These procedures apply to all GUA B.V. supercharged vehicles including all Shelby variants.
  • Failure to follow required break-in instructions — including test drives — will void the warranty.
  • No verbal or written commitments from any GUA B.V. representative will supersede the above acknowledgements.
  • The signed Run-In Procedure form must be returned to GUA B.V. before the driveline warranty is activated.
